For you who are bogged down…
This may help you get unstuck so you can move forward with your life…
When my wife walks into my office she often says “Wow!” as she looks at my computer screen.
She looks at all the open files and tabs on my desktop and wonders, “How in the world does that machine function?”
Yes… I usually have a lot of files and tabs open on my computer desktop.
I have a lot of things going at once and I want them accessible.
Eventually my computer gets bogged down, and getting it to respond is like trying to wake a teenager on a Sunday morning.
But then I shut everything open down, run my cleaning software… and when it’s done its deleting and compressing, I’m good to go.
One day I realized this process is a lot like life.
We live with what I call “open files.”
These are recollections of various incidents involving disappointments, failures, worries…things that bog us down.
These open files tend to accumulate. They don’t necessarily have your direct attention, but they’re there.
They affect your whole operating system… and when they pile up they can really have a paralyzing effect on you.
But there is a solution.
You can close those open files.
Those disappointments… Learn from them and move on.
Those failures… Receive God’s grace. Enjoy the refreshing of His Spirit. Be strengthened in His love.
And your worries? Give them to the Lord and entrust His sovereign purpose to be worked out.
Then open up just one file.
The one called TODAY… and work on it.
