Mark this well…
Those who follow their callings have something those who merely think about following them don’t possess.
What is it that sets apart those who hear God’s call and take action from those who hear it and stay put?
In the days of Hitler, a German named Dietrich von Hildebrand wrote and published a weekly journal to expose the wickedness of the Nazi regime.
Every seven days he went to print… to cut through the propaganda for his fellow citizens… so they could see what Hitler and his henchmen were really up to.
The paper was so effective in providing resistance against the Nazis that von Hildebrand became Hitler’s public enemy number one.
He was blacklisted, spoken against… and there were even plans to assassinate him.
Clearly von Hildebrand was involved in dangerous work.
What gave him the guts to do it?
Faith.
Faith God had called him.
And faith the Sovereign Ruler of all would sustain and protect him as long as he was true to his work.
This is what made him brave to obey the call… despite the risks.
Now… few are called to such dangerous work as von Hildebrand.
But to follow any calling still requires faith.
This has always been the case.
In the Bible, and in history.
And it’s still true today.
It’s when the conscience is filled by faith that people fulfill their callings rather than ignore them.
And it’s with faith ordinary people are turned into heroes.
How about you and your calling?
Feeling unsure about seeing it through… or even taking the first step?
God promises to be with you as you answer the call to do the work He’s given you to do (Mt.18:20).
And wherever that is, there’s no better place for you to be.
