We first noticed something a few weeks ago.
There was a bad smell in a closet. I figured a lizard got in the house and found his final resting place.
No big deal.
But during the eighth inning of the final game of the world series I became more concerned.
The Indians were at bat and I saw a shadow out of the corner of my eye.
I tried to ignore it… but when the Indians tied it up, I couldn’t deny a furry critter had just bolted across the floor… in what seemed like a celebratory run.
We all went after him… to no avail.
Over the next couple weeks, though, we did finally catch him… along with three of his relatives…
And it became obvious… we’ve got a problem.
So today… instead of enjoying a quiet day after Thanksgiving… “the rat man” is coming over to help me figure out how these intruders are getting in.
This kind of stuff used to get me pretty bent out of shape…
But hey, it’s life in a fallen world.
Ever since the fall of Adam, humanity has been cursed with obstacles (Gen.3:17-19).
And part of our call to dominion is to overcome these difficulties, no matter what they might be.
You may never have to contend with what we call “roof rats” here in Florida.
But you will surely face other challenges as you seek to do what God has called you to do.
… It might be car trouble, personal conflict, financial difficulties, health issues…
There’s really no end to what it might be…
And there seems to always be something.
No matter what comes your way, though… don’t let it stop you.
Just look to the Lord for grace to deal with it and move on.
Do not let the thorns and thistles of this life keep you from what God has called you to do.
