Did you hear about the two farmers that swapped fields because they were both convinced the other had the greener pasture?
The next morning they both regretted it… because as they looked at their old property it now looked greener than the field they traded for.
Well there’s actually a scientific reason for this illusion… and grass really does look greener on the other side of the fence.
But that doesn’t mean it is.
And the same thing is true as we look at the lives of those around us.
We can look at our neighbor’s situation and it can look so much better… as it appears they have the things we want without the burdens we carry.
But it’s an illusion… if you were able to look real close you’d discover your neighbor has issues to deal with just like you do.
This of, of course, is why scripture tells us not to covet.
And why Jesus says, “Follow Me.”
We each have our place in God’s vineyard.
One plants, one waters, and each will be rewarded according to his labor… in the place God has him.
